The Panasonic FZ100 has some really nifty features, such as high speed burst, and interesting video recording abilities (240fps @ QVGA, and can adjust shutter speed and aperture).
The auto focus is extremely quick, 0.3 sec or something.
Supposedly the 'power O.I.S.' image stabilization is very effective, about 4 stops of compensation.
It can shoot in RAW + JPEG.
The full HD doesn't worry me, as I have nothing that can fully utilize the 1080i resolution. It also has a 460K resolution articulated LCD screen.
Most chromatic aberration id removed in-camera, making it easier in any post-processing.
But it has somewhat disappointing image quality when you look at the images 100%. Though, I never do this often.
The Canon SX30is doesn't have some of these features, but it has 35x zoom (the FZ100 has 24x). The image quality is alot better when viewed at 100% compared to the FZ100.
But the burst mode is comparatively lame compared to the FZ100 (1.3 fps vs 11fps of the FZ100)
I will be doing close ups (using macro mode/super macro mode). Some landscaping, and nature photography. I might also go to my family's sports games and get photo's of them playing
*don't tell me to get a DSLR.. Right now, I don't want one. Not yet... Yes, I do know how much better they are. But less convenient. And more expensive (a zoom lens, a macro lens and a camera body will be considerably more then one of the bridge camera's listed above).
Thankyou for any help given. Much appreciated.
