anti-government insurgents...? robot_hooker; by that artionale, Venezuela would be well within its rights to fund anti government insurgents within the USA, in the name of national security. After all, the USA is a hell of a lot bigger threat to Chavez than the other way round.
...to the tune of $26m? This is exactly what happened in Venezuela, with the Bush administration spending in excess of $26m on "political groups" in Venezuela, whilst declining to name them. Why is it that the US government feels perfectly within its rights to fund insurgencies when it suits it, all the while berating Iran for allegedly funding insurgents in Iraq (without ever having provided evidence)?
