What would taking the carpet out of my Jeep do to the audio quality?

I have a Jeep Wrangler, and I'm about to put a full sound system in, dual 12" sub woofers, etc. I want to take the carpet out of my Jeep, would that diminish the sound quality? (I already know its an open air vehicle and I'll be losing a lot of sound and what not), would I be better off leaving the carpet? What about a rubber liner? Rhino lining? Or nothing at all?

You already said it.

Its a Wrangler the most open of all vehicles. lol.

Something is always better than nothing. I would pull the carpet out and put a thick layer of Rhino (or other) lining down. Easy cleanup when you get it dirty inside. You can always put the carpet back on top of the lining to help also.

Without the carpet you may notice a little more noise, both from the road and from your stereo. You may also have a little bit of rattling. Overall I don't think it would make a huge difference.

If you added rhino lining or similar material that should help to dampen the metal a little bit which would improve sound quality. It would also be durable for everyday use.

Good Luck!!!
