What would happen if you published a work, and the sources you cited had plagiarized?

I am working on an ethics project, and that is my ethical dilemma to write about. If you published a work, a book or article, and then found out that the sources you had used and cited had plagiarized their work, what would be the response? Are there any cases of this happening? I am looking specifically for cases of this or something similar to this happening. I would also like to know your responses. Would you inform your readers? Would you inform the original source? Would you re-do your work to cite the correct source? Would you confront the plagiarizer? Would you handle it publicly or privately? Would you simply ignore it, stating that you cited your sources appropriately and have no control over whether the people who wrote the works you cited did the same?
I would like to state again that if you have any articles about this happening, that would be great.
