After the tragedy, still felt in some areas 146 years after it's end, of the Civil War, I just can't picture, say, the governor of Florida (for example) announcing that FL will no longer obey federal laws, ban all but one state political party, and turn the state into a dictatorship and a new country, and the U.S. federal government attacking or invading. Even less likely while we are in 3 wars (Afghanistan, Iraq, pakistan).
