I'm sort of a noob when it comes to base HARDware lingo, and I want to know, for a good price, what I should be looking at/for. By the time I purchase, I'll probably have around $1000, but I could wait and get up to about $1500. If there is something worth looking at that is in this range, I'd really love to know what it is.
I've been looking up video card specs, hard drive sizes, RAM sizes, operating systems, processors and anything else that would be on the minimum system requirements list for Autodesk Mudbox 2011. But that's minimum. I want the medium. For video cards, I think the Radeon HD 5870 should cut it: (Q1: Y or N). RAM: 6 to 8GB is what I want: (Q2: Y or N). Operating systems, I'm going Windows 7 Pro. And Processors? Intel Quad-Core i7-870?: (Q3: Y or N) Please list better examples if not.
In short, I really just want to know what a good base desktop would be for intermediate use that could, in time, be built up to professional standards
