what would be a better choice for creating a website ASP.NET VS PHP !?

hi all
i want to learn the basics for creating a website with database , the question is what you recommend me to learn asp.net or php ? and why !?

whats easier to learn?
is it easier to create a website with asp.net or php ?
what language has more "power" ?

can i do exactly the same with both languages ?
can you mention good resources for starters ?

by the way i know these programming languages , C,C++,pascal,Cshell thats all

They both do essentially the exact same thing.

ASP.NET may be a little bit easier to learn (Not Much), but PHP is more widely available.

Even as a C# programmer for the most part, I still choose to use PHP over ASP.NET.

w3schools.com is a good place to start with PHP.
