So, I'm getting a Randall RG80ES. I want to get a high-gain tone, but the only way you can get it without anything in front of the amp is to pull the treble knob, and that lowers the volume dramatically, which is bad for gigging.
So, my question is, what would be the best way to boost the amp?
I know that Dimebag used 2 different EQ's, a Furman PQ and an MXR 6-band blue box model (which people claim distort more then the current one). This would be better for shaping my tone, but I think this route would be more expensive.
I've also heard of people using overdrive pedals (like the BOSS SD-1) to overdrive their amps. I plan on getting a Digitech Bad Monkey for more tone-shaping versatility.
