Will we be out of this recession or not? I ask because back in April last year we invested the bulk of an inheritance in Bonds/ISAs, on a 5-year term. The half-yearly statement has just come in and shows a drop in our original capital of 29%. Happily (I think) we are locked into Interest payments on the investment of just over 7% which is a tidy little income (although necessary to make up for what we receive in State Pension payments) but what happens if, after the just over 4 years left, our original investment is still at this level, or lower?
Do we cut our losses and bail out now, or sit it out and hope things pick up by the end of the term?
