What Will Happen When I Try-Out For Orchestra?

Don't try out just yet. Practice. If you don't want to buy a violin just yet, rent one. You can rent-to-own at almost any music store. If you try out now you will just be told that you can't join and to practice.

Note: Make sure you can read treble clef before you even pick up a violin.

I want to sign up for orchestra, but you have to try out. I haven't even picked up a violin in my life. PLUS I don't have one to practice with... I would buy one, but I am scared I am not going to make it and have a 100$ or more violin that collects dust. What would you do???
