what will happen if i put flat top pistons on my chevy 350 tbi stock?

i bought some flat top pistons and a performer rpm intake looking to get a edelbrock carb to. well my question is what else would i have to do to my motor that would help it out to gain more power the pistons are standard bore size? what would be a good cam for the intake and a carb i want it to get some big numbers without having to waist alot of money. some one told me to get my heads worked on don't really know what to ask for all the help would be appreciated. Thanks
