What will become of Saturday Mornings in 2009?

After the "deaths" of Kids' WB! and 4KidsTV on FOX (and them giving up on kids TV as a whole), I looked at the small possibilities that could happen in 2009?

It's now only CW4Kids, Qubo on NBC, ABC Kids, and CBS' KEWLopolis (not counting PBS Kids or PBS Kids GO!).

In your own words, what will Saturday Morning TV look like next year?

KEWLopolis on CBS Schedule in Fall 2009:

7:00AM Horseland (Reruns)
7:30AM Noonbury and the Super 7 (New Show)
8:00AM Cookie Jar E/I Show
8:30AM Care Bears: Adventures In Care-A-Lot
9:00AM Sushi Pack
11:00AM Dino Squad (All New)
11:30AM Metajets (New Show)

Dino Squad? Didnt that come out in the early 90s (at least, thats what it looks like style-wise)? If DiC is dipping into their vaults, why not show some of the classics like inspector gadget or heathcliff or even Beverly Hills Teens?

Every cartoon that is currently on that Kewlopolis thing came out in 2007. Dino Squad actually is in their second season. It's improved a lot, trust me.

^ Isn't that another shonen show with cheap CGI dinosaurs living in an anime and who get upgrades from power-boosting play cards like Yu-Gi-Oh and Yu-Gi-Oh GX? At let us not forget Dual Masters, the recycled version of Yu-Gi-Oh and 'Pokemon.

*sigh* 2009 is going to bite for animation.

Nope, it's a full cartoon.

I should probably check out the shows on CBS and NBC. I haven't watched either channel's offerings since Nick Jr. and Discovery Kids (which I thought was a fairly decent block).

I think that nothing will change. Everyone will just keep chugging along in a coma-like state until the weaker blocks slowly fizzle out one by one.

I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be a "schedule prediction" thread rather than a "prophecies of doom" thread.

Besides, as long as the E/I quota is in place, networks will continue to air E/I programming on Saturday mornings so affiliates don't have to air E/I material using their own time.

DiC had a show called Cadillacs and Dinosaurs some years back. Dino Squad is a new show that's in its second season. (I'm a dino freak- so both DS and Dinosaur King are on my Satam playlist) It's about about 5 teens who turn into dinosaurs. going by the picture posted, left to right: Caruso is a metrosexual, Fiona is an athletic mechanic, the guy in the middle is a jock, Roger is a computer genius and Buzz is an artist who likes bugs and snakes. Basically, they have E/I adventures in the midst of a war between 2 ancient raptors who turn into humans. The good raptor is their science teacher and leader. The bad raptor is a local businessman named Victor Veloci who once impersonated a teenage girl online trying to snare Buzz. Theme song's awesome.

Saturday morning blocks will die a necessary death.

I think that SatAM will be the next big battleground for the kids' cable networks, as they begin to grab for the small amount of viewers who still clung on to the broadcast fare.

By fall of 2009, the cable networks will have very little amounts of programming. Television will just keep going downhill as the Internet becomes the only source for entertainment via YouTube, Hulu, and Joost.

Sorry for the overreaction.

Then in 2010 television will die a necessary death. Hulu and Joost will be streamed directly into people's brains just by thinking about it.

Anyway, the CW4Kids will finally launch fully and chug along, and the E/I blocks and ABC's Disney Channel rerun block will probably look pretty much the same as they did this year. Fox won't be missed much I don't think.

I think both Horseland and Sushi Pack started in 2006. Horseland is in its third season of 13 eps. All three shows are kind of preachy though, and heavy on the lesson teaching.
