I am a university student and I am finding out plenty of information about our USA history that I wish I never knew. Now, I truly feel ashamed of being a US citizen. Our history is not one of honor and glory but of greed and self aggrandizing. I feel that our dark and lamentably dishonorable history has me wishing I lived in another country. I know there are good and bad people in every country and that no one country has an impeccable history but I know there are other western countries that have more honorable histories than ours. I have to confess it but our dark history makes me wish I wasn't "American," because its nothing to be proud of really. I may seem a bit radical to some...to you I say, study US history and tell me our history isn't a dark one. Learning about our history has really been an eye opener for me. I do admire some Americans like Abe Lincoln and Ulysses S Grant who shine in our dark dark history (just to name a couple).
What western countries have a more honorable, less corrupt backstabbing power-hungry history than the USA?
