What Were They Thinking?

Blaming Bush for doing what he thought was right and being wrong is fine, but Obama who ran on a 'change' platform is a total pushover.

Obama rolled over and extended the tax cuts that he did not agree with because he desperately needed in turn support for his own abomination which is of course Obamacare. This was done in the name of compromise.

We cannot have single payer health coverage in the USA because the health insurance companies have too much money and lobbyist in their pockets. This would happen over a very large pile of dead bodies. It is, however an excellent idea and if Obama were not such a tool he would have fought for this to be part of his Obamacare. Instead he allowed himself to be pushed over by the insurance companies.

I have been working for the past 8 (the year I got out of high school) years in this damn shop / office. I have a woman at home with our 5 month old, I am barely above water and qualify for little assistance.

For what I am getting out of government programs I could have easily paid for, if I did not have to pay into the programs (and not use them) for the past 7 years. It is as if they took a dollar from me and are now returning $0.50.

It is not fair that I have a job and some men do not, it is also not fair that they have lots of free time to spend with the kiRAB and I do not. How does it make it fair now, that I buy the jobless man and his family all of their shit?

I can no longer afford to care about other people and their families, because I have my own to worry about. I am past caring. I don't have shit except a shitty job, a shitty apartment (read expensive) and a family to support. I don't even own an automobile, yet I pay taxes so a jobless man can have buy a car and go look for work?

Are there no prisons? Are there no workhouses?

Send the welfare people down and make them pick fruit with the Mexicans. I don't care what they do.

Loses right here seeing as revenue in $ and % of GDP increased after the 2003 tax cuts. Democrats like to look at paper nurabers. Cutting taxes to them will always mean lost revenue because it is subtracting some nuraber from the total. They don't like to look at the effects of policies and how the public and markets react to it.

Do they ever use them, or just waste money paying them to sit in a dark room because I've never seen anything beyond hard nurabers presented as democratic policy effects.

Why is that? If you and your wife have jobs, that's great. But let's say you are fiscally responsible, and one of you loses your job. Now, what do you do? Do you get a credit card so you can keep paying the daycare and high grocery bill, or do you have the non-working individual tend a garden, go fishing or hunting, and watch the kiRAB at home? Maybe more money could also be NOT SPENT by doing other tasks that you were otherwise paying someone else to do- maybe less eating out and more home-cooked meals, for example.

See, the answer isn't always in having more money to play with. It IS always about living within your means. The government's answer to every problem has been GET A NEW CREDIT CARD which they max out in a year or two.
That is the wrong answer, and it's why we are where we are as a nation.

Are you brain-dead? Where the hell did you dig up this bullshit? Tax cuts do not COST ANYTHING. It's a reduction in income. You don't pay anyone for a tax cut. You're taking less from them. Why can't you stupid liberal pieces of trash get it through your head that it's not your lord master government's money?!?

The government is going to have to do something they won't do. The just won't. They're going to have to say "We're sorry. We've been throwing fish at you all these years, when we should have been teaching you how to fish. Here's an instructional DVD and a fishing pole. Have fun."

For years, more and more people have been sucked into being intertwined with The System. Far too many people in this country would literally starve and die with water and food all around them. The people in this nation MUST learn to do more for themselves. There is no other way out of this mess.

You do realize, of course, that the CBA is NOT non-partisan?

Now, let us look a the first paragraph of the article you posted:

...nation?s leaders decide that the thing to do?in order to raise the debt limit, normally a routine matter?was to spend less money, making job creation all the more difficult?

Regarding this ridiculous assertion---which has its basis in the notion that goverment creates jobs---I would assert that our Nation's leader, the President, has been quoted as proving this absurd notion a fallacy once he acknowledged the FACT that "shovel ready" jobs were not "shovel ready."

This deserves it's own thread

I said, if bush tax cuts cost us xyz, then all the previous presidents have " cost " us 100% tax rate - today's rates...

So like trillions and trillions ....

CliRAB: it's retarded to consider a tax cut a cost

The problem being if you don't cut spending when you put tax cuts through, then you're aware of the potential deficit, and thus "cost" to you that gets deferred.

This is more an argument of semantics. Here cost doesn't mean revenue vs. cost as in a budget. It means the additional cost that's not being funded, i.e. the deficit.

Sure tax cuts don't "cost" money, they reduce revenues. But they do increase the unaccounted for costs that you know you've already agreed to spend on. Ergo they add to the unaccounted for costs.
