What were the names of the original star wars books and who was the author?

And I don't mean the crappy "alternate version" or reprints, I mean the originals. thanks for your help.

It is also possible to find the Radio broadcast of Star Wars A New Hope in MP3. You would be surprised to find how much stuff in that broadcast never made it into A New Hope, but got into the Phantom Menace. (the pod race was done by Luke originally) but it was done similar to the plane, motorcycle race in Iron Eagle.
