What were the internment camps like in Britain and America?

During WW2? What rights did the Japanese and Germans have while in the camps? How where they treated?
Just curious, and thanks.
I know that America apoligized to the Japanese americans (40 years later), did Britain also apoligize to the Germans?
Nobody knows?? =(

i have visited a p.o.w. camp in county durham (harperly) the germans were treat well ,and some remained after the war ended,or came back later.they became part of weardales community.i cant comment on germans living here when the war started, but i know the italians were not harrassed or anything.

There is a difference between the camps you are discussing. The camps in America contained people of Japanese origin or descent. There were many second and third generation Japanese-Americans interned, and a goodly number of them were citizens. It was ironic that the sons and brothers of some of the interned people were out fighting in the US Army. So those people certainly deserved an apology. It should never have happened.
The people in Britain were German prisoners of war who had been captured during various offensives. No native Britishers were interned.
So there was no apology necessary.
