Some of the effects of the IR were to increase productivity (and owner profits), and to require more skilled labor, likely leading to better pay,and later to better working conditions.
In the long view ,the IR created more time for folks to relax,think,create,invent,etc. as shorter hours,and better pay/living conditions became the norm.

For me, Internet and Cable TV. They didn't come directly from the industrial revolution but as a result of the many advances technology is now afordable to everyone.
