what website can i look under for the history of my gun,with a certain serial number?

all i need is the websites please
i have a springfield .22 rifle that is pretty old,so i want to find out all i can about it.it was made in westfield mass..its model # is 120A . serial # is p232786.i know it belonged to my great grandfather.so i want to know if it belonged to anybody before me grandfather?
 
Need more info. Some guns are easily done this way, and then makers like Colt want you to send money for a research fee. There is no universal site.
