I know Baron Karl Von Drais was one of the first to invent the bicycle (but there was no pedals) in 1817. And Pierre and Ernest Michaux were the first to invent the bike WITH pedals (1860s). So I'd like to know how people got around and their main transportation before the invention of the bicycle. (: thanks !

Walking is the old standby. Horses and boats have been used for 1000's of years. Canal's were built all over the place for moving goods. Canal's were replaced by railroads. Then you have bicycles, cars, trucks and airplanes.

walking works best for poor people
when bikes first came out, only rich people could afford them
horses, canals, trains, all are more complicated and require different kinds of money and commitment from society

wle.

well.. its actually a rather easy question

the answer is easy as well

mainly.. anything that could transport you from a place to another was acepptable, thus we used Horses and wagons.. indians used buffalos and bisons,

you will find rather funny that there was a man who actually created roller skates... but everyone thought he was crazy.. he never thought he would make a fortune if he had placed the on the market ;)
