Today after I "went" I noticed red in my faeces, I don't want to be too crude or anything but it was about the same colour as a red pepper. It freaked me out, I have been experiencing stomach pains too. Quite often in fact and I had about 4 days in a row last week when I was feeling nauseous and tired.

What could it be?? Why was I seeing red? Was it blood? If so, why?

I am 19, and cannot go to the hospital/doctors tomorrow... I know it sounds stupid saying that but I have 2 tests tomorrow. The first one I could resit but the second my college has paid for... if I have to be entered again I'll have to pay for it.

Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am freaking out. Does it mean I have blood in my bowels/intestines for some reason?:eek::eek:

It could be blood but chances are it's something you ate that after being exposed to the acids and enzymes of the digestive tract, turned that color. Blood that is bright red tends to come from things like hemmorhoids as the bowels change the colors of things. Blood from the intestines or stomach tends to come out black and looks like coffee grounds or tarry in texture.

But it could be blood of it come from the last few inches of the bowel. My husband gets it when he drinks too much milk and it's a warning sign that he needs to stop the dairy products.

I don't think it's anything urgent but it should be checked out but can wait until after your exams. If it goes away, then wait until it comes back so the docs can test to see if it's blood. If you see it again in the toilet, try to scoop out a sample and get it to them to test. They can also do a Hemocult test for blood in the stool but if you've seen it, it's best to test what you saw.

Relax and try to think of anything you ate that might come out red like that. You can even imagine what beets come out like in babies! Had a friend rush her kid to the ER by ambulance thinking she was bleeding to death......it was beets. And then see a doc when you're through with the exams.

good luck..................Jenny
