What was the reason why Bella Swan says, "I'm betting on Alice." to Edward?

Bella says this to Edward at the end of chapter 24 (An Impasse) in Twilight.

(Bella is in the hospital after she's been bitten in the dance studio)
"I love you", he whispered
"Me, too"
"I know" he laughed quietly.
I turned my head slightly...searching. He knew what I was after. His lips touched me gently.
"thanks" I sighed.
"Anytime"
I wasn't really there at all anymore. But I fought against the stupor weakly. There was just one more thing I wanted to tell him.
"Edward?" I struggled to pronounce his name clearly.
"Yes?"
"I'm betting on Alice" I mumbled.
And then the night closed over me.

This refers to a previous discussion they had, in the same chapter:

"Bella, we're not having this discussion anymore. I refuse to damn you to an eternity of night and tthat's the end of it."
"If you think that's the end then you dont know me very well," I warned him. "You're not the only vampire I know."
His eyes went black again. "Alice wouldn't dare."
And for a moment he looked so frightening that I couldnt help but believe it - I couldnt imagine someone brave enough to cross him.
"alice already saw it, didnt she? Thats why the things she says upsets you.She knows I'm going to be like you...someday"
"She's wrong. She also saw you dead, but that didnt happen, either"
"You will never catch me betting against Alice"

Hope this helps...for Twilight...anything!!

Bella says that she is betting on Alice because Alice had a vision where Bella was turned into a vampire and Edward doesnt want her to be a vampire and he doesnt think its going to happen so Bella says that you wouldn't catch her betting against Alice. Then, at the end when Bella is in the hospital, she is about to fall asleep and she whispers to Edward, "I'm betting on Alice."

She says "I'm betting on Alice" because they had a previous discussion where Edward accidentally revealed that Alice had a vision. In this vision, Bella was going to turn into a vampire. So, eventually, what they are fighting about is going to happen, although when, where, how, or why is not mentioned. Bella also doesn't think Alice could be so wrong, because this one is so set in stone and not dependent on human choices so much. So she bets on Alice.
