...phone calls? There was a PC game highlighted in the mid-late 90's where you had to register fairly intrusive details like your phone number and address, and the contact information of friends. This information was used to unravel a spy/espionage plot. I believe this game got a lengthy write-up in PC Gamer, or maybe EGM.
I believe the game was discontinued because of its intrusive nature, and because people were receiving threatening phone calls from voice actors who had no knowledge of the game.
I really need someone to pull through and remind me of the name as I have some research to do.
