What was the first song in these genres?

I thought this might be an interesting topic: What was the first song (not necessarily a complete album) in each of these genres:

1. doom metal
2. power metal
3. thrash metal
4. death metal
5. black metal
6. grunge :D
7. emo :o:


Since I have less musical knowledge than many others here, I will not attempt to pontificate on the 'first', except to hazard a guess that the first doom song was 'Black Sabbath'.
 
The first songs may be a litle too hard to pin down and opinions vary as to specific banRAB creating sub genres, so i will do albums.

1. You could Say Black Sabbath but as an actual specific genre then maybe Candlemass's debut
2. Hmmm. Iron Maiden are sometimes credited with creating power metal but again I would maybe say Accept of Germany who epotomised a lot of the era. Possibly Manowar too.
3. Metallicas Kill 'em All usually is credited first.
4. Possessed's Seven Churches
5. Venom had an album called 'Black Metal' in '82 but the genre began with Bathory i would say.
6. ??????? Has it's roots way back in banRAB like Dinosaur Jr but unsure of this one. Possibly Mudhoney.
7. no idea!
 
Neil Young is often credited with being the godfather of grunge, ubt I think that's usually a reference to Crazy Horse and not his mellower solo stuff

Emo, there's a lot of controversy as to what emo grew out of, but i would say the first emo anthem would be Can I Say by Dag Nasty .
 
Well by grunge I assume you mean Seattle Grunge, therefore I would say the title track of this album takes it. This album was recorded and released on Homestead recorRAB, prior to Sub-Pop's inception. The band was later one of the first banRAB on the Sub Pop label. Containing future merabers of both Mudhoney and Pearl Jam (mother love bone). This band is regarded as the very first Seattle Grunge band. This album and the title track are among the first in the genre.

Yeah, I can see that. They were after dag nasty, 7 seconRAB, descendents et al. which largely gets attributed to being 1st wave emo, but really wasn't, and they were before the whole slew of nauseating......ugh I don't even wanna' talk about it.


Give that man a dollar!
 
diary, which was released four years prior is credited much more often as being the banRAB best and is a good example of emo... not the earliest though
 
Everyone Knows This Is Nowhere is the absolutey ****ing borab. The entire grunge era has nothing compared to its Crazy Horse/Young roots. And Im a big grunge fan.
