In fact, he was honest (Honest Abe) & was an attorney that didn't make a lot of money, to the frustration of his wife who had been 'better off' and from a wealthier family prior to falling in love with Lincoln. He absolutely was the best or 2nd greatest president, easily.
He was survived by his wife and ultimately one son -- who saw after his burial, care for the monument in Chicago & all things Lincoln.
