...5.7L Chevy G20 van? More specifically the temperature gauge. I have just installed a new create engine, radiator, sensors, water pump, hoses and this the third thermostat has had a hole drilled in it to expel trapped air. The coolant system has been well and truly purged of any air.
Even though the engine does not appear to be hot, the temperature gauge however still keeps raising towards the red before dropping back to normal then raising again whilst driving in any conditions or road. It always drops back down to normal as soon as I stop at traffic lights or a junction etc. The gauge does not pass the half way mark whilst ticking over for no matter for how long.
I have been advised to test the gauge, sender and voltage at both the ignition and instrument cluster. An automotive electrician is coming to test it tomorrow, but he has no experience with American vehicles. Can you suggest what else could cause these symptoms? Thank you.
