what types of plants can i plant in my garden to attract rare bugs and animals?

i really want to see some beauitful rare bugs and birds and small animals but i dont know what to plant i have berrie bushes and a plum and crabapple trees but thats about it oh and i would like it if the plats grew year round and i live in winnnipeg manitoba
