around 1840's to 1860's? I'm writing a story that takes place in Japan around 1852 at the start then it skips ahead to 1878. The character has a chornic illness that leaves her out of breath and coughing if she over exerts herself. She received it as a child and if all possible I'd like it be caused by near drowning. I don't want to have to have her die from this illness, disease, or disorder. I'd appriate the help.
