call of duty or halo? I'm asking because I believe I have had this happen many times and would like to understand the difference between each so that I may be able to prevent it or report it accordingly.

I know of lagging switching or tapping where the host will turn on and off the modem to gain an advantage.

I also know of the way that a host will use a firewall or other software to deny connection to a player(s) on the other team so that they will lag or be booted from the game.

The types I would most want to learn about are the attacks that happen without need host of the game. For example if I were hosting the game, that means the other team can't cheat using the lag switch or firewall method since it requires host to do so. I was lagged out of a game earlier by the other team and I had host. What ways could they use to lag the me( the host) and my team mates out of the same?

Listing the different names/types and a descirption would be great. Also, if it is possible to do anything to stop each particular cheat from happening.

Thanks
