My English Girlfriend was studying in the US on a Students VISA for 14 years. While at a top US university she won a placement for a summer in France, she asked their student services team if it mattered that her VISA was due to expire, they said no and that she could re-apply when back in the US as a tourist. When she tried to enter the country they immediately exported her back to the UK, This has causes 4 years of hassle, financial and emotional burden as her Family all live in the US and she's still banned from visiting!- What kind of lawyer would she approach to try to reclaim expenses for their misinformation ( that they have formally accepted in a letter) ?

Thanks for the answer so far, Sorry, one thing to clarify is that the top US university she was studying at was the place that after looking at her VISA reccomended to her that she did not renew it before she left. It was totally their fault. This is also not about getting her back in the US, after being arrested, put in jail, deported away from her family and spending $40,000 in fee's, and still being banned from the US, she just needs to try to get on with her life with fair compensation for costs incurred.
