Hello there. I took a fish from my sister's old bosses. We are not sure what kind of fish he is. He seems to be pretty agressive towards the other fish, and at first we were told he was a Jack Dempsey, but when I looked at the pictures, they do not look the same at all. He is about 3 - 3.5 inches long. Thanks!!

I thought he looked like a gourami too, but all the articles say they are social fish with a normal termperment and he killed all the others in his tank, and constantly kills the algae eaters..

IIt is an Opaline Gourami

The Opaline Gourami also known as the Marbled Gourami is considered to be one the easiest of the Gourami to keep, being rather placid with its comical behaviour as an infant. The Opaline Gourami is silvery pale blue, with darker blue markings. Their differing dorsal fin with the males being much longer and pointed and the female shorter and rounder can identify the male and female. They breathe from the surface, known as Labyrinth Fish, will there for need access to the surface of the tank.

They require a heavily planted tank that is of a least 50 litters with some of the surface covered with floating plants. Darker tanks will show off the Gourami's colours more effectively. Tanks should be kept in a relatively quiet area with little noise, with regular water changes and good filtration. Gourami's should not be kept with large, aggressive fish, but are compatible with other small peaceful fish as well as fellow Gourami's.

hope this helps.

looks like a gourami. some are semi aggressive. before you put any more fish in the tank move the plants and things around he shouldn't be as territorial then, and keep the lights off for the floating of the new fish. hope this helps

Its definitely a male gourami of some sort. Most sites do list gouramis as peaceful, but not all of them are. The females are generally very forgiving. The males... Well, Ive seen some male gouramis rip other fish a new one.
