What type of book is the biblical Genesis? Is it law or history ?

Genesis doesn't really have the law, - in the O.T. kind of way. The 'law' started with Moses.

But you're refering to Godly principles as outlined in this first book.

It is a law, because it's talking about the world being created and new life by God, the omega and the king, the beginning and the end. It's when God makes us, and human kind existence, and controls our universe and makes rules, by making a man and a women
