I live nearby two small lakes, each about 3 - 5 miles in circumference. These are both pretty calm, but I guess most lakes are. While I was going for my morning run around one of these lakes I saw some competitive rowers out on the lake, I started thinking how awesome it would be to have a boat to take into the water to exercise, go with friends/girlfriend/family and maybe even fish. However, I have jack-diddily-squat experience with boating and fishing. So, I wanted to know, what kind of boat would be suited to me? Kayak? Canoe? Skiff?
Some preferences:
- I'd like a boat that is propelled with oars
- Holding at-least two people
- Not too difficult a learning-curve for a newbie
- I'm looking for recreation and not competition, although I'd like to use it for
medium-level exercise.
- It would see the most use in summer, and pretty much none in the winter
