What type of bike do you recommend?

I am getting a new bike to replace my Schwinn Le Tour III 10-speed road bike and I don't really know what to look for. I would like something that is quick and agile, skinny and light, but is also versatile and fit for multiple terrains. Like a mix between a road bike and a mountain bike?? Any suggestions?
 
Look at the hybrid bikes with 700c tires that are good on the road and can be ridden on smooth dirt and gravel trails. Comfort bikes will have 26 inch wheels like mountain bikes but will be a little liter and use a tire that will be comfortable on or off the road. You can also go with a cyclocross bike that is like your 10 speed but is made to be ridden of road.
