What type of bicycle should i buy?

I am planning to buy a bicycle to cover long distances (more than 50 kms mostly on flat roads). Which type of bicycle should i buy? A 10- speed racer or a 21-speed Ranger type.

Get a road bike, they stopped making 10 speed bike a long time ago.
