This is strictly for a book that I'm writing, it's for a character that was shot in the lower left side, there were issues with the intestines and serious blood loss but the surgery went well and the character is recovering quickly. What kind of pain medicine would a doctor probably prescribe? Is ibuprofen too strong, would they use morphine while he is in the hospital? Or would Tylenol and/or Advil do the job?
I was also wondering what kind of antibiotics would the doctor prescribe for such a wound? Would it be a cream that they would put directly on the wound or would it be a pill? And what type of bandage would they use? Would it be like an ace bandage or something that would stick to the skin, i.e. a band-aid type of deal?
I'm completely ignorant on this so any details will help!
