I am not 100% percent on this but i heard their was a couple that were philosophers maybe during the time of WWII that were Russian that were kind of into the swinging of things.

It is Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone De Beauvoir you are thinking of.
They were French but pro-communist in a lot of thinking, which is why you may have thought they were Russian - they certainly visited Russia.
