Hi everyone, again (I don't care if I stay on Level 1 for Yahoo! forever). So I've started basic skating lessons at Canterbury Ice Rink, and I think I'm moving a bit fast, so I'm wondering what kind of moves I can do this year.
FYI: I started to skate last year (2010), and then I won 8 free skate lessons, so I started this year, at Canterbury. I was placed in Intro Level D, and I also take private lessons with my coach. When it was time for evaluation, I skipped L1, and moved onto Level 2, but I don't know what we do yet, because I haven't taken L2 yet...
I can do forwards stroking, swizzles, dips, backward swizzles, forward crossovers, slalom, (crappy) lunges and I'm still working on my snowplow stop and the half-turn (180 degree turn).
So what moves on ice, can I probably do this year? Also, I'm a girl, 13 and my skates are Riedell 121. I want to compete soon, I've already missed that chance to learn figure skating when I was younger. :'(
THANKS!!
The levels at Canterbury are as follows:
-Intro A
-Intro B
-Intro C
-Intro D
-Level 1
-Level 2
-Level 3
-Level 4
-Level 5
-Level 6
-Level 7
-Level 8
(It's weird, we don't have Novice and all that...)
