What trees can I plant around my deck to give it privacy, but not totally shade it? We have a raised deck on the NW side of our house, and my family has always wanted to plant trees around it...but we don't want to loose the warm, but not hot, evening and morning sun it gets in the summertime. Are there any trees than wold give some privacy, but would still also let some light in?
I live in growing zone 5b, but I've only seen it get to 5b cold once in my lifetime, last winter, and we had 20" of snow on the ground. I cannot plant shrubs because I already have lilacs. I don't want to see my neighbors house at all, they are always looking out their window and having it open. Their house is also a weird white creme color.
