What topic should I use for a newspaper article?

Ive got to write a newspaper article for a college assesment. Its got to be individual, a hot topic and something slightly different. Im flooded with so many ideas I cant pick one, Heinz advert scandal, presidential elections, Chinas economic boom, fuel prices etc...what should I write my article on? Any ideas?
