What tool do I need to take off an ignition module from a 1986 mercury sable?

I have tried star tools, and smaller sockets that fit in the holes of the ignition module but nothing seems to work. Maybe a better question would be how do I take the ignition module off of my car? I would really appreciate feedback to help me out with this. Thanks.
