What to talk about with a friend/co-worker?

I have a co-worker and we became good friends. When we hang out, a majority of the time we talk about workplace and sometimes, we talk about our personal stuff. There are times where I realize that we just get bored because we run out of things to talk about........what should I talk about to make our conversation interesting? Any good jokes for fun? lol.
