Hi there!
I'm a (northern) California native trying to figure out what to pack for an upcoming trip to Ohio/the Midwest from March 12 through March 20. I was invited to stay at my college boyfriend's childhood home, and he will be touring me around the area and introducing me to his high school friends. We live in Los Angeles, and he's warned me that it will be cold, rainy, possibly even snowy -- but that I should be fine as long as I have a good wool peacoat or something similar.
Again -- I am a CALIFORNIA NATIVE. I have never experienced the Midwest cold. I don't even OWN a wool peacoat. But I am prepared to buy one. I am wondering what I should pack (or BUY) to wear for the eight days I will be exposed to his family and close friends.
I mean, I of course want to look nice and put-together. I have nice clothes, but it's all warm-weather stuff. I usually wear leggings, tunics, plaid button-down shirts, day dresses and shirtdresses, and jean jackets, with leather boots of suede flats. The only sweaters I have are cotton cardigans. I have one wool beanie. I have a faux-leather bomber jacket. I can have my mom mail me a rain-resistant ski jacket I have back home.
I'm just don't want to fly all the way out there and then be freezing to death for a week, you know?
Any Ohio natives on here who can give me a heads-up on what you've been wearing out and about lately?
