what to facebook chat a girl you like?

i have never actually talked to girls on facebook that i like because i am more of an in person kind of guy. but i am also pretty shy. so i am not sure what to say/do.

but i would like to just chat this girl and ask her to help me with a project for a class i have. i met her last semester. and am pretty shy with her but i have been talking to her a little more recently. and want to talk to her before the end of semester in about a week now.

so any suggestions would be great

I wouldn't try to facebook chat a girl unless there was no other option. Definitely talk to her in the last week. Just ask her for her number and if she wants to catch up sometime. What do you have to lose?
