Hello All. I am currently 16 and well my father is giving me his older car, his Buick Roadmaster. The car is currently in great condition. I am not sure about the year of it but I can tell you it looks like this

and has a LT1 engine. This summer my father and I plan on doing some work on it. Which contains of tuning it up and striping the car of the wooden stickers. My father also talked about lowering it a little but not sure how well that will go threw. Now I love this car but I wish there was something I can do to make it better. Now my main question is there anything I can do to make the car's Performance better? I am mainly looking for ideas to do for this summer project. It will be raced a little during the summer at some local drag tracks.... mainly for little competition. I would like to thank the people who reply back to my question. Thanks.

If you plan on bringing it to the track spend your first $1000 on upgrading the suspension. One of it's weak points.
Basic tune on the engine only is my advice.
Check door sticker for date of manufacture as you'll need this for suspension upgrades.

If your race it, you're going to kill it... Go with answer # 1....

I'm sure your dad would rather see you get some money for it

to buy something better suited for your needs than to see it die

on some track and hauled away by a tow truck.

This is your first car and already you want to race it on a track.

Do you plan on walking to places with your girlfriend when you

have a drivers license ?

Use your wits here.... and good luck on the road....

Build something separtely for the track when you have the $$$$ 's

Just my opinion....
