Here's the problem: My wife filed and completed bankruptcy back in November of '08. Since the loan company has a lien on her car, they were suppose to pick it up. After a few months, we decided to call. They told us a different agency is handling the lien and they no longer have anything to do with it. They gave us two different numbers to the agency.
We have called almost EVERY DAY and NO ONE has answered nor have our calls been returned after leaving numerous messages. This has been going on for months. I called the DMV (I live in New York if that helps) and they told me that I can legally insure and register the car and can drive it. The only concern is the company might decide to get off their a$$e$ and get the car.
Here's my question: Is there a time limit on when they can come get the car before the lien is lifted off the car and we can start legally driving it without any worries? We have called and called and called and we have not heard a word. And the old lien holder wants nothing to do with the matter. Thanks.
