What to do now ?

After cleaning the bike good today, got to the wheels, and found a big, double headed nail in the back tire. Looks like it's been there for awhile, but I use this bike for transportation to and from work, which is 30 miles away. I'm thinking this nail has been there for some time, but I'm concerned about riding the 20 miles on the Los Angeles freeways tomorrow. I have a HD dealer about a mile from work. If I take side streets, it's going to take me an hour and a half, instead of 45 minutes.... but I think I will, just to be safe. What would you do? My other option is calling a tow truck tomorrow when I get home, and haul it up to a dealer near my house. Problem with that is, I'll have to drive the car two days.... I hate that !!!!

If I were you ? It would worry me too. BUT you know you have been traveling on it, so I would pull the nail and plug it. If you have a wire wheel you might as well take it to indy or dealer and replace the tube and then plug the tire.

If the nail was there for a while and the tire didnt loose any preasure it wont happen tomorrow. If i were you.Ill take the risk.Ofcourse its up to you ,good luck.

What i wouldnt do is pulling the nail no matter what .

Just my opinion on if it were me.... I would do the side streets and take it easy. I don't know if I could do the freeway knowing the nail is there even if I thought it had been there for a while....... But that's just me

I guess I'd put the bike on a lift and take the wheel off. A double headed nail? How does that get all the way into the wheel and not get noticed?

If it was your front tire I wouldn't risk it, but Hell ! it's on the back.....got for it ! You'll probably be do'in average interstate speed of 80 mph so you should have about 4 seconds to safely pull it over to the side of the road.
