...ripping sign out? my friend and I were charged with Criminal mischief to the 3rd degree, we are accused of ripping a "no parking" sign out of ground, we just left sign right there no damage done, Neither one of us have any priors, both clean records and first time in trouble, When we got arrested I didn't make a statement nor tell them what happened, but my friend made a statement and admitted us taking the sign out of ground, now I dont no if I should hire a lawyer or take the one they give me, I want to spend the least amount of money, and is a criminal mischief charge a bad thing to have on record? what should I do? thanks
cory should I talk to the lawyer they give me, and how do I make it so I just have to pay, I really didnt do any damage money wise to sign because you just have to put it back in ground....

Talk to your attorney about getting it on a differed case where you would just pay restitution and community service. I did the same thing on an mischief 2nd degree and it worked for me.

Take the punishment handed out and stop being a vandalizing loser. Just a thought.

I suggest to go with the lawyer they provided, the case doesnt seem it will make much difference even if you hire another lawyer at your cost.
