What to do about my back-chatting pre-teen...?

How do I deal with an 11 year old girl who has suddenly started talking back, being rude, having tantrums etc?

Definitely puberty has started but hve had very few problems up until now and I want to nip it in the bud before she becomes a nightmare but at the same time don't want to have unrealistic expectations.

What is/isn't acceptable in terms of her expressing a difference of opinion? Because that I don't mind, it's just the downright rudeness/attitude/tone of voice that comes with it!

Any pointers/words of advice gratefully received
 
Tell her that you won't respect her opinions unless she can speak her mind in a mature fashion. Ignore her when she's being nasty. That's worse than anything else since most people speak their mind in order to get heard and noticed.
