What time of the year would I get the best deals on a used dirt/trail bike?

I've heard that during the winter is the best time. I live in the deserts of Southern California.
 
probably in the winter as no one will be interested in riding . you can always store the bike until the spring . charge the battery once a month and when you are ready to ride get fresh petrol
