What techniques did Claes Oldenburg use to create his large sculptures?

I am doing a research assignment on Claes Oldenburg, and one of the questions is 'What techniques did he use?'.
I am focusing on one of his artworks - 'Clothespin', so any specific information on how he made clothespin would be good, but also information in general on how he made them.
